Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised his team’s performance despite playing with 10 men after 20 minutes.
The Bulls thrashed Switzerland 4-1 in the Nations League A4 on Sunday night, with La Roja reduced to 10 men at half-time but still managing to secure three points.
“I am very proud of this team and even more so because of what happened in the game. This made us see more of the players in the team. We played well despite being at a disadvantage after (Robin) Le Normand’s sending off,” the 63-year-old said after the game.
“There’s a sense of responsibility and togetherness. Spain is a big team and what they’re doing is very memorable.
“I feel excited and proud. I feel like we are making the nation see this group of players better than ever before. They show values that go beyond sport because they show humility and support each other.
“Pedri had a good game but we had to adapt. We dominated the first 20 minutes but after 10 men we were perfect. When we had problems, Promotion Ufabet David Raya came out and did his job.”
De la Fuente singled out Joselu for praise, noting his exceptional performance. “I’m very happy for everyone, especially for Joselu because he deserves it,” De la Fuente stated. He commended Joselu for fulfilling all expectations both when Spain had 11 players and after they were down to 10.
